After discussing your cycling history and future goals, the Wind Tunnel experience starts with a Bike Fit. We will measure your current bike set-up and record your full body data and foot-bed requirements.
After a warm-up on the turbo machine our sports physiotherapist will check your flexibility and discuss any previous injuries you may have picked up.
Back on the turbo we analyse video footage using Dartfish technology to gather positional data and power output. At Prestige Cycles we understand that everyone is different, and we are committed to helping each customer get the best from their bike. Over the next couple of hours we will continually adjust and refine your position on the bike, assessing your comfort and performance.
Using this information we will identify four key positions for the aero fit to be tested inside the Wind Tunnel. The aim is to decrease drag and optimise your power output without compromising your natural flexibility and comfort.
At Southampton University you will join 3-4 other riders for the Wind Tunnel session. We will set up your bike in each of the four key positions and get you to try each one in the tunnel, while the specialist technicians vary the speed and angle of the wind and give detailed data feedback. Once the best position for you is established, we will spend the end of the session fine-tuning the position of your head, shoulders and hands. The devil is in the detail and nothing is overlooked.
